On Saturday, July 28, my best friend; my confidant; my soul mate married the love of her life. I was fortunate to be one of twenty to witness their beautiful ceremony (as the unofficially official maid of honor); one of twenty to be a part of the quirks and calamities that make wedding stories  memorable; one of twenty to experience the perfect and poignant moments that made this day special.

Their love story is what you would consider an “alternative” one. They didn’t come down a fairy dusted road arm-in-arm together to get to this day, their road was one full of twists and turns, dead ends and uncertainties, distance, separation and war.

Through all the hardship and difficulty as well as through the times of joy, there was one thing that led the way for them both: FAITH. Whether emotionally or physically separated, their faith in themselves and their faith in destiny; carried them through. It allowed them to be grateful for the good times shared; it allowed them the strength to get through the difficult. And because of this, their love has transcended it all.

Their wedding day marked; not the beginning of a journey; but the continuation of one that has met and overcome plenty of obstacles, been laced with an abundance of joy and has been inspiring to those who’ve been blessed enough to have the privilege of watching it unfold.
